THE HISTORY OF NEW HARVEST CHRISTIAN CENTER

In early, 1994, Elder and Sister Brown heard the call of God for them to move out and into the ministry he had called them to. They began to pray that God would direct their path in the direction he wanted them to go. During this period of seeking God’s will, the opportunity to help in another Ministry became possible. Elder and Sister Brown began to work in this Ministry but there was the feeling that this was not where God wanted them. They continued to pray for direction.

In June, 1994, they began to look for a building to be used for prayer and Bible study. While looking for the prayer building, the Lord revealed to them through Sister Brown, that they were to start a new work – to build a Ministry from the foundation. This was later confirmed through prophecy. The Lord revealed to them that this Ministry would be a special one; one that would be a place of spiritual recovery and restoration to those who had been hurt, bruised, or a backslider. The ministry’s ultimate goal as it was inspired by God would be that of a Spiritual Excellence, with love, understanding, biblical teaching, encouragement, and support.

In the latter part of June, 1994, Elder and Sister Brown were told by Elder Al Slade of a building located at 6205 Woodville Highway. After Elder and Sister Brown visited the location, the Lord confirmed in their spirit that this was where the new work was to begin.  At that time, the building was known as Tallahassee Gospel Assembly, but the congregation was willing to lease the building if they could lease two (2) nights back for service. This was acceptable between both parties and a lease agreement was entered into.

NAME:  The Lord revealed that this ministry would be instrumental in the conversion of the unsaved and the nurturing of the newly saved from which the name NEW HARVEST emerged. Because it would also be a place for Christians to fellowship, CHRISTIAN CENTER was added to the name.  The new work for GOD became NEW HARVEST CHRISTIAN CENTER CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST. The first service was held on August 24, 1994.

“TO GOD BE THE GLORY!”

The need to minister not only to the spiritual man, but to the needs of the physical man who face significant barriers in employment due to the lack of computer skills led to the establishment of NEW HARVEST TRAINING CENTER. NEW HARVEST TRAINING CENTER began as an educational outreach in April, 1998, to provide training and employable skills in computer applications. The first class was held April 27, 1998, in a modular building located behind the church with ten (10) students from the Woodville and Tallahassee community.

NEW HARVEST TRAINING CENTER grew significantly after it was awarded its first vendor contract from the State of Florida WAGES Program in July, 1998, to provide computer literacy training to their clients. The first eighteen (18) week session began April 8, 1999. The students for this session came from Leon and Wakulla Counties. The training center was one of the avenues God provided for NEW HARVEST CHRISTIAN CENTER CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST in ministering to the whole man by providing an opportunity for people who desire to come above their circumstances by preparing them for entry level employment in the demanding are of Computer Technology.

In March, 1999, NEW HARVEST CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, a non-profit organization and community outreach was organized.

In June of 2000, NEW HARVEST CHRISTIAN CENTER CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST became a non-denominational entity and was renamed NEW HARVEST CHRISTIAN CENTER.

In August, 2004, NEW HARVEST CHRISTIAN CENTER, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit became a member of Covenant Fellowship International, Inc. which is under the leadership of Bishop Vaughn McLaughlin of Potter’s House Fellowship in Jacksonville, Florida.
